Like everyone, I’ve had my share of challenges to work through. I stumbled into becoming a counselor by going though my own counseling while I was in college. I was skeptical and hesitant at the time, but the process ended up being life changing for me. I knew I wanted to be able to facilitate that for others. It is truly an honor to sit with people in the midst of their struggles, hold space for them, and provide support, encouragement, and tools to help them move through difficulties and emerge on the other side as more evolved human beings.

Everyone struggles. Everyone needs help from time to time. There is no shame in recognizing that you’re in over your head and would benefit from someone coming alongside you to help out. In fact, I see that recognition as a sign of strength. I have witnessed time and again people bravely facing their demons, allowing themselves to process their pain, grow in tremendous ways, and not only feel better, but ultimately become better versions of themselves—more fulfilled in their own lives and living in healthier relationships with those they love and care about. It’s amazing to be on this side of that process.

I take a holistic approach in my work with people. Mental health is not just about one aspect of a person’s life, but it is about integrating many different facets of our lives to give us more of a sense of wholeness and wellbeing. I tailor my counseling to what will be most helpful to the individual needs of each client. I believe that counseling is a collaborative process, and I work to create a warm and welcoming space where you can feel comfortable to share more of your story.

In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, reading, sewing, running (very slowly), listening to podcasts, yoga, and spending time outside. I also enjoy good TV shows and movies and am always up for hearing about new ones!

Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I earned a Masters degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary in Littleton, Colorado. I also worked in non-profits and for a community mental health center while living in Colorado. Through these opportunities I gained experience in the treatment of severe and persistent mental illness, trauma, and addiction treatment, while working with individuals and their families to provide therapy, education, and advocacy. I also had the opportunity to work in small clinic settings in Colorado, Michigan, and Illinois, seeing a variety of adult clients struggling with issues related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, grief, relationship issues, emotion regulation, spirituality, career satisfaction, and executive functioning.

I have received training in a variety of therapeutic techniques including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), mindfulness, grief support, motivational interviewing, existential, and strengths-based approaches. I utilize an eclectic approach in therapy, drawing from a variety of therapeutic techniques to help you get the most out of the experience.
